Hello Anna,

How are you? I hope you are well. Today, I'm writing to tell you about my experience as a language learner, my exams results, and so on.

Firstly, I have to say that my job would be related to humanistic studies. In my opinion, I consider a great thing to know all kind of languages because it's the basics of our society. It's crucial if we want to understand each other.

That's why, nowadays, I'm learning Catalan (my mother tongue), Spanish, English and French at my high school. But this year I've begun studying Latin since a lot of languages come from it. I also study English in Cambridge School where I've passed some hard exams like: Trinity 1, 2, 3 and 5, KET and PET. Therefore, I can say that I'm good at English. This month I've started teaching a nine-year-old child called Aleix who you know very well. I hope my lessons are useful for him!As for my exams I can say that I usually have good marks in my tests.

The United States of America

The United States of America is a country which is situated in the North America and it has got 50 states and one federal district. That’s why, their flag has got 50 stars next to the red and white stripes. Their national language is English and the capital is Washington. Currently, there have been elections to choose a new president and Barack Obama has won them. This choice has meant a change of the mentality of the inhabitants because Barack Obama is a black man.
The United States were established on 4th July 1776, when they became independent. But then, it changed with the United States Constitution. It has taken part in different wars, but now it’s the world power.
One of the most well-known monuments of this country is the Statue of Liberty that was a present of France and it’s placed in Liberty Island. For this reason, the United States represents a sign of freedom. It’s also important the event that occurred on 11th September 2001. The two Twin Towers (World Trade Center) fell down when two planes crashed and a lot of people died.

UNDER THE WATER

The ship which has changed Costa Rica


Last week, two swimmers were diving in Costa Rica’s coast when suddenly found a ship under the water. Their first thought was that they had discovered the remains of an old craft, which had sank some years ago. But appearances can be deceptive.

It all started on the 27th October. Like every Monday, Tim Robinson and Jack Cruise took their equipment and went to the sea for diving. Once there, they began watching the precious and new worlds that seabed hides. Nevertheless, they noticed that something had changed. There weren’t many fishes and water was darker than usual. However, the divers followed their way but, after some minutes, they discovered a ship under the water. Firstly, they believed that it was an ancient boat that had sank a few years ago.
Nowadays, one week later, some scientists have investigated the case and that’s why we can say that the incident was more dangerous than it seemed. According the latest news, the craft had an engine problem and, all at once, it overturned and the passengers died. But the most shocking fact is that the ship deals in drugs, which had to be delivered on an island. These substances have been found in the seawater.
To sum up, government has decided to keep an eye on any kind of goods and it will pay attention on every ship which arrives in the port. We will keep you updated about what will happen with this strange incident.

Helloo!
My name is Laura and I was born on 5th May 1993, so now I'm 15 years old. Currently, I'm studying 4th of ESO in IES Ramon Muntaner. I live in Figueres with my parents in a big house in the outskirts of the city. I also have a little brother who this year has started in my High School.
In my free time I'm used to hang out with my friends, go to the cinema, surf on the Internet and listen to music (specially pop-rock music). But, above all, my favourite hobbie is tennis. I play tennis twice a week in Alt Empordà Tennis Club with some friends and I always spend a great time with them.
